Tim Walton

1st Grade

"Ginga" as he is informally known around the club has been with the Hawks since he moved to Newcastle from his home town of Taree. Starting with the Hawks as an inside centre in the Colts side he has developed into a tireless worker with the Hawks ever since.

Admired by his peers and studied by his opponents, Tim has the ability to turn a game on its end dazzling the crowd with the skill and speed as one of the best in the Premier competition.

A member of the Premier 1 2008 Premiership winning team, Tim has come to secure himself a regular spot within the 2010 Premier 1 squad through hard work and determination. Currently in the hunt for the Leading Try scoring award Tim will surely be putting that in the back of his mind in search of another premiership with his team mates.

Keep your eyes on Ginga, blink and you may miss him.

Luke Briggs

1st Grade

Luke was the NHRU leading point scorer in 2008 with 275 points, this has been the most points scored in the past 9 years of 1st grade rugby in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union.

Luke came to Hamilton Rugby Club through work contacts in 2006 and has been a regular 1st grader ever since. Starting his rugby with the Tamworth Magpies in his junior days, work commitments have lead Briggys to various clubs and ultimately to us here at the Hawks. Luke has developed into an inspirational leader in both his playing skills and personality amongst his peers.

More comfortable in the centre position, Luke has adapted to the No.10 jumper in 2010 and is well drilled in commanding his troops in the backline.

Keep an eye on Luke in 2010 as he will no doubt be in the thick of things come the 3pm kick-off.

Va Talaileva

1st Grade
Va was the Hamilton Hawk's first ever recipient of the NHRU Competition's prestigious Anderson Medal in 2007. The Anderson Medal is awarded to the best player in the competition each season.

Originally hailing from the South Pacific island of Samoa, Va spent a couple of season in Sydney playing with Liverpool Rugby Club. Wanting a quieter life away from the big city lights Va and his young family packed up and moved to Newcastle for a more relaxed lifestyle.

What is Sydney's loss is the Hawks gain. A tremendous  hard running back rower with a infectious commitment to training is a true inspiration to up and coming Hawks players. A softly spoken player leaves his messages for on the field has been rewarded for his hard work by cementing a spot in the Newcastle Rep Team for seasons 2009 and 2010. Just recently Va returned from New Zealand after representing the Australian Samoan Team in the Pacific Island titles.

Look out for Va in season 2010.
